The Asset Welfare Department is an unique department within the facility. 'Asset' is the term used to designate the corporation's engineered dinosaurs - living investments that require regular care and supervision. The department is responsible for their medical treatment, behavioral monitoring, and daily maintenance, ensuring each asset remains healthy, secure, and stable within their assigned habitat.
Asset Welfare
Asset Welfare is a highly technical and interdisciplinary field - the department is divided between a Rangers team and Veterinary team (comprised of both Veterinary Technicians and Attending Veterinarians).
Rangers are non-medical caretakers responsible for practical tasks such as feeding, cleaning, paddock maintenance, behavioral supervision, and low-risk field interactions with assets (e.g. taking walks, training them). They are trained in tranquiliser usage through a qualification.
Veterinarians are responsible for the medical care of assets, including diagnosis, check-ups, treatments, surgeries, post-operative care, disease prevention, and emergency interventions. Attending Veterinarians and Resident Veterinarians are assisted by Veterinary Technicians, who function as 'nurses' and support all aspects of asset healthcare.
Like the Medical Department, medical roleplay is based on real-life veterinary practices. Personnel are expected to have a foundational understanding of actual veterinary medicine. However, since dinosaurs do not exist in real life (as far as I know), certain procedures are creatively adapted to fit the fictional biology of the assets while maintaining realism and scientific plausibility - from anatomy to diagnostics and surgeries and even pharmacology! (Think Azaperone, Etorphine, or Diprenorphine)
... & Asset Roleplay
Unlike human medicine which is somewhat understood, dinosaur veterinary medicine is pretty much unknown. This is where research and experimentation come in. Veterinary personnel collaborate with the Research Department to continuously expand the medical understanding of each species. New conditions, treatments, and procedures are often discovered through in-character studies, making the field constantly evolving and very rewarding. You're building lore and research.
Dinosaurs are roleplayed by real players, known as "dinosaur actors", each portraying a unique asset with its own personality, behavioral traits, and medical conditions. Some assets can be social like dogs, while others are highly dangerous. Their names are assigned by the department, who monitor individual conditions, and adapt care routines based on each asset's needs each shift. New assets are regularly introduced into the facility, primarily housed in Paddock Alpha or cared for in the Asset Nursery.
The Asset Welfare Department is considered one of the most hands-on and immersive departments.
Players who enjoy both medical roleplay and complex systems that aren't fully understood - and instead must be discovered, tested, and adapted - will likely enjoy playing as Veterinarian or Veterinary Technician.
Players who prefer practical, hands-on tasks, direct interaction with assets, and routine will likely enjoy playing as Ranger.
The department is ideal for players who enjoy slow-burn, character-driven roleplay, with a touch of complex medical realism and hands-on interactions.
It is recommended for both new and experienced BEXCO players - especially those who wish to have an unique roleplay experience and learn more about BEXCO lore.
